Ranchi, Oct.9: Senior officials of all the subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL) have been asked to take all measures to increase production and dispatch to meet the demand of power companies across the country.
Higher officials have been asked to remain in the field most of the time to motivate middle management and review the production and dispatch on a daily basis. They have been asked to observe dispatch every Saturday.
A senior executive of the CCL informed this saying the direction has come from Coal India. “Coal from CCL is supplied to thermal power plants in UP, Haryana, Gujarat and Punjab besides Jharkhand and thus the direction is clear and loud that thermal power companies in the state should get a continuous supply of coal,” the executive said.
Meanwhile, a section of experts hinted at the big game behind the power crisis.
“Each thermal power company is supposed to keep sufficient stock. It is expected that they should keep stock for at least one month and thus it is beyond imagination that there will be a crisis of coal to the limit of affecting power production,” a mining expert who remained associated with the mining department of the state for many years said.
A retired GM rank official of Coal India supported the expert saying a proper study is required to be done to avoid such a situation. “Apart from thermal energy, proper attention is required to be given to green energy to avoid such a situation in the future,” the official said.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand continues to face a power crisis. Against its demand of 1528 megawatt power the state got nearly 1000MW power and each district faced a power cut of 2 to 4 hours.
