Dhanbad, Oct 11: A pantry car staff in Dhanbad- Allapuzha Express train allegedly tried to molest a handicapped woman in the running train. He was arrested by the Government Railway Police at Hatia railway station. Official sources said that the accused staff has been identified as Kunal Singh, resident of Tengra in Begusarai district of Bihar.

The report submitted to Dhanbad rail division headquarter said that the staff entered the handicapped reserved bogie of the train at Chandrapura station around 12 noon with tea. He began molesting the woman. When the woman’s father protested, he beat him up too.

Other passengers in the bogie joined the father of the victim in protest and caught the pantry car staff. However, before that, he tried to escape the bogie while the train was running but could not flee. He hid in the washroom. After receiving the information, the  Railway Protection Force (RPF) party searched and took him in their custody.

Sources said that at first, they tried to hand over the accused to Ranchi railway station’s Government Railway Police (GRP). But due to the short duration of a stoppage at Ranchi station, they then handed him over to Hatia railway station’s GRP for legal action.

Hatia GRP has sent the accused to Chandrapura station GRP for action as the incident is said to have taken place under the jurisdiction of that station.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhanbad divisional railway, Sanjiv Besra admitted to have received the complaint about the alleged molestation incident with a handicapped woman in Alleppey  Express. He refused to comment over the matter saying, “Only after proper investigation I would be able to say anything about it.”

Pantry car of Dhanbad- Allappuzha Express comes under the management of Dhanbad divisional rail and all its staff board the train at Dhanbad railway station.
