India registers 15,981 new Covid-19 cases, 5.7% lower than yesterday

New Delhi, Oct.16: In the last 24 hours, India reported 15,981 new Covid-19 cases, down by 5.7 percent from yesterday. The illness claimed the lives of 166 people, bringing the total death toll to 4,51,980.

Covid-19 cases that are active have decreased to 2,01,632, accounting for 0.60 percent of all infections. The national recovery rate was 98.07 percent, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.

India reports 15,981 new #COVID cases, 17,861 recoveries and 166 deaths in last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry.

Total cases: 3,40,53,573
Active cases: 2,01,632
Total recoveries: 3,33,99,961
Death toll: 4,51,980

The active Covid-19 caseload dropped by 2,046 in a single day. The number of persons who have recovered from the disease has risen to 3,33,99,961, with a 1.33 percent case fatality rate. On Friday, a total of 9,23,003 tests were administered, bringing the total number of Covid-19 tests conducted across the country to 58,98,35,258.

During the countrywide vaccination campaign, about 97.23 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been delivered.
