Ranchi, Oct 20: Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das will join the sit-in protest of the assistant policemen if the Jharkhand government fails to fulfil their demands within seven days. The situation came up when the former CM reached Ranchi’s Morabadi ground to meet the assistant policemen.

Das said that he had reinstated 2200 assistant policemen in his government with the aim that the youth living in remote areas should not take the path of Naxalism. Along with employment, they also get a chance to serve the state.

“Assistant policemen were appointed for 2 years and there was a provision to give them an extension of three years. At the same time, there was talk of giving priority in the appointment of constables, but this government is showing insensitivity by ignoring the demands of these assistant policemen,” Das said.

He also urged the government to immediately increase the honorarium of policemen and give them priority in the appointment of constables.

The ruling party is blaming Raghubar Das for this condition of the assistant policemen. In response, Das said that the youths who were taken to the forest by the militants to carry guns are now working and serving the state.

Das said that this government describes itself as a well-wisher of the indigenous people. All the assistant policemen who have been appointed are tribals and indigenous people. But unfortunately, the government is not seeing their pain, he added.

“For 24 days, these people along with their small children have been sitting on strike for their legitimate demands, but the government is silent and even the assurance provided to them last time has not been fulfilled,” he further said.
