CM Hemant Soren inaugurates 11th National Women Junior Hockey Championship in Simdega

He also laid the foundation of International Astroturf Stadium and projects worth 100 crores through virtual mode

Simdega, Oct.20: The 11th Junior National Women’s Hockey Championship began at Astro Turf Stadium, Simdega from today. Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the championship. This championship comprises 26 teams from all across the country. With the creation of this competition in Jharkhand, not only will the game of hockey gain popularity in Jharkhand, but the degree of sportsmanship among the state’s women hockey players will also rise.

This tournament piqued the interest of not only the players but also the audience. During the opening ceremony, players from several teams dressed in bright colours staged a unique celebration.

The CM, on this occasion, gave many other gifts to Simdega. He laid the foundation of International Astroturf Stadium by reaching the construction site. He flagged off two ambulances and three Covid vaccination chariots from Parvati Sharma Mahila Mahavidyalaya ground. He also distributed three power tillers and two mini tractors.

He laid the foundation of various other schemes worth Rs.101.59 crores through virtual mode at the Astroturf Stadium. He distributed assets among women groups and 79 youths were given appointment letters for various posts.

Congratulating the people of the district, the CM said that it is the love and passion of hockey among the people of the district that the National Hockey has been re-organised here and he got the privilege of visiting the hockey nursery because of this. He added that the future of hockey in Simdega will prove to be better than before. For now, Simdega is hosting national championships, but soon international tournaments will be hosted here.

Sports Secretary Amitabh Kaushal, Hockey India President Gyanendra Ningobam, Hockey Jharkhand President Bholanath Singh, MLA Vixal Kongadi, MLA Bhushan Bada, Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, Superintendent of Police Dr Shams Tabrez were present in the inaugural programme.
