Ramgarh, Oct.30: Keerti Gaurav (27), a resident of Parsotia in Ramgarh, has been nominated as a member of the Ramgarh Cantonment Board. The Ministry of Defense has issued a notification in this regard.
Last June, the 16-member board of the Cantonment Board was dissolved. The term of the eight elected ward members had ended then. After this, the process of forming a three-member board was started under the Cantonments Act. Apart from the Cantonment President and CEO, one member from the town was to be nominated in the board. The Cantonment board had selected three people of the town and sent the name to the Ministry of Defense among whom Keerti got selected.
She will attend the board meeting within two-three days and take the oath of the nominated member to represent the board area till the elections are held.
“First time in the history of the Cantonment Board, a young woman has been nominated as a member,” said Keerti Gaurav.
Earlier in the year 2002, retired teacher Mulk Raj Chadha, who had been awarded the President’s Award, was made a nominated member of the board.
Keerti Gaurav has been a national player of Air Pistol Shooting. She is currently training to participate in the International Air Pistol Shooting Competition. She is also the state convener of BJP Yuva Morcha Sports and Arts Cell. Her Father Gyan Brahm Pathak is a teacher and a member of the RSS. Her Mother Ila Rani Pathak is a member of BJP State Working Committee.
