Haryana, Nov 15: Renowned Hindi author Mannu Bhandari passed away on Monday at Narayana hospital in Gurugram, Haryana.
She had been keeping unwell for last few days. Her last rites will be performed in Delhi tomorrow, as confirmed by her daughter.
Born in Bhanpura city of Madhya Pradesh in 1931, Bhandari was also one of the key members of the Nayi Kahani movement of Hindi literature.
Mannu Bhandari, who wrote on topics like women’s freedom and has a strong signature of the new story, is identified with novels like ‘Mahabhoj’ (1979), and Teen Nigahen Ek Tasveer (1969). Some of Bhandari’s notable works also include Ek Plate Sailab (1962), Yehi Sach Hai aur Anya Kahaniya (1966), and Trishanku (1999).
