Daltonganj, Nov. 20: Around 80 trap cameras installed in various compartments of Ramandag, Rol, Piri, Kukkoo and others in the south division of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) has been taken-off following after more than 25 days.

The deputy director (south division) of the PTR, Mukesh Kumar said this evening that a trap camera remains at a particular location for a minimum of 25 days and thereafter it is relocated as per the need. Two trap cameras facing each other but with a distance of ten or twelve feet are installed in one grid.

Asked as to what these trap cameras have recorded, Mukesh Kumar said this will be assembled and then uploaded.

Sources said that the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun has asked PTR to send the images recorded by these trap cameras for analysis.

Notably, great care and caution are exercised when it comes to the installing trap cameras. A trap camera is to be installed at solid and stable object and not to anything which rocks or hangs or swings any more.

The installation of the trap cameras is for the tiger estimation which is going on all over 51 tiger reserves in the country.
