Lucknow, Nov.22: As a huge number of farmers gathered for a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ to urge their demands for a legal guarantee for MSP, among other things, BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said on Monday that, apart from repealing the three farm laws, there are many issues of farmers that need to be tackled.

“The government appears unwilling to speak with farmers after announcing the repeal of the three farm legislation. The government should make it obvious that the laws have been abolished in their entirety and communicate with us so that we can return to our communities “Tikait said this in the Eco Garden, where the ‘mahapanchayat’ was held.

Six demands have been made to the government by the SKM. Farmers are also demanding the removal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, whose son is a suspect in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, the withdrawal of cases against farmers, the construction of a memorial for protesters who died during the agitation, and the withdrawal of the Electricity Amendment Bill.

Tikait stated that the concerns of MSP, seeds, dairy, and pollution must be addressed. He said that more than 750 farmers, especially from Punjab, were killed in the protests against the farm laws.

Farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand have come to participate in the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat,’ according to SKM leader Gurpreet Sukia from Uttarakhand.

“The PM made the declaration about removing farm regulations with an eye on the approaching assembly elections in UP and other states, where the BJP is seeing power sliding away from its hands,” Rashtriya Kisan Manch president Shekhar Dixit said.
