Ranchi, Dec.10: Former chief minister and BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi today took strong exception to the delay in taking action against Deoghar deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, despite the Election Commission’s directive and registration of an FIR in a case related to sub-inspector Rupa Tirkey despite the order of the ST/SC special court.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said that the Hemant Soren-led  state government wants to run the democratic system of the country in its own way, calculating its gain by any action.

Marandi expressed his view three days after the Election Commission of India directed the Jharkhand government to remove Bhajantri as DC of Deoghar with immediate effect and start disciplinary proceedings against the IAS officer and 14 days after the ST/SC special court directed the ST/SC police station in Ranchi to register an FIR against officer-in-charge of ST-SC police station Radhika Raman Minz and S.P.(city) Saurav besides representative of chief minister Hemant Soren, Pankaj Mishra and deputy superintendent of police Pramod Kumar Mishra.

The ECI took the action based on the complaint lodged by BJP’s Godda MP Nishikant Dubey. The MP had alleged that the Deoghar district administration on the instruction of the DC lodged five cases against him at different police stations on October 23 in connection with the Madhupur Assembly bye-election.

The ST/SC special court took action on the information of Padmavati Oraon, who knocked the door of court on September 23 this year with a viral audio in which abusive language was being used against her daughter sub inspector Rupa Tirkey who died at her official residence in Sahebganj in mysterious circumstances and the CBI is still probing the matter following a Jharkhand High Court directive.
