Ramgarh, Dec.20: Kuju police have recovered 390.6 kg of Ganja from Shriram Chowk Fourlane in Kuju OP area of the district on Monday. This ganja worth Rs 50 lakhs was laden in a stolen 10- wheeler truck. Police have detained two people along with the confiscated drugs.
SP Ramgarh Prabhat Kumar informed that the smugglers were carrying 78 packages of Ganja in a 10-wheeled truck. According to information, it was being taken from Andhra Pradesh to Nepal via Bihar.
“The ganja was confiscated by the police on a decided trap. We had information and under the directive, Kuju OP in-charge Awadhesh Kumar laid a trap with the armed forces at Shri Ram Chowk,” the SP added.
As the truck of Andhra Pradesh, bearing registration number AP31TA 2556, arrived at the chowk, the police barricaded it and searched for its contents.
Two people were taken into custody from the spot by the police. During the search, around four quintals of ganja kept in packets in a specially made cabin at the rear end of the truck were recovered.
The police are currently engaged in a thorough investigation at every point along with strict interrogation from the detained persons.
