Dhanbad, Dec 20: Dhanbad’s freelancer senior photo journalist Chandan Paul got the runners up trophy in two events of Jharkhand state level photography competition held at Ranchi Audrey House on Sunday.
Jhakhand Governor Ramesh Bais was the chief guest in the closing ceremony. He awarded the trophies to the winner and runners-up participants of different events of the competition for their outstanding photographs.
The state-level photo competition was organized by the International Delphic Council on its 27th foundation day. The organizers informed that the competitions were based on four themes: art, nature, culture and festival.
Padma Shri awardees Mukund Nayak and Madhu Mansuri Husmukh got first prize in the Art photography competition while Dhanbad’s photo journalists Chandan Pal’s pictures got the first runner up in ‘Jharkhand’s Festival’ and second runner up in ‘Jharkhand’s culture. He was the first participant in the competition who won medals in two events.
“I have won many awards in competitions so far but these two medals hold significance for me as the governor of the state has handed me the award,” said Chandan.
Over 200 participants across the state had participated in the competition. Ashok Karn, Mukesh Srivastava and Sanjay Bose were the arbiters of the competition.
International Delphic Council of Jharkhand Chairman AN Pandey, vice-president Shantanu Agrahari, Secretary Ramesh Prasanna, former chief conservator of forest AK Rastogi, Manoj Singh, joint secretary Dr Rajni Verma, Prasant Karn and Minakshi Sharma were also present in the function.
