Ranchi, Dec 24: With danger of the new variation of Covid – Omicron – posing a potential threat, the Ranchi district administration has failed to track the active Covid patients in the district.
At present, there are 99 active cases in the district. According to guidelines of the state government, none of the active cases is allowed to stay in home isolation. Even after that, only 5 Covid patients are admitted in the government as well as private hospitals.
There are no patients of Covid in RIMS and Sadar hospital. At the same time, Medica and Samford have two patients each and Medanta has one.
Ranchi DDC Vishal Sagar said that according to the guidelines all the covid positive patients are to be kept in an institutional quarantine centre. Only in a few special cases patients are allowed to stay in home isolation.
Officials of the district administration said that it has become very difficult to track down the patients as they provide the wrong phone numbers and addresses.
“When we call to check with the patient, either the number is switched off or it says invalid number. At the same time when we go to check at their address they show that they have been tested negative after being positive,” an official said.
SDM Deepak Kumar Dubey said that the contact tracing cell is continuously working to track down the active Covid patients in the state.
Ranchi Civil Surgeon Vinod Kumar said that testing is being done and the list is handed over to the district administration and it is the task of the administration to take the patients to the hospital.
