Ranchi, Dec 31: Several hotels and clubs in Ranchi have cancelled events lined up for New Year. Many others have restricted the seats to 20% as the parties can lead to mass gathering and flouting of Covid-19 norms. They have taken this step amid concerns over the Omicron variant and rising Covid cases in Ranchi.
At the same time, Radisson Blu and Prana Lounge are conducting grand parties. Marketing and Sales head of Radisson Blu Devesh Kumar said that the state’s Covid-19 guidelines will be followed and limited guests will be allowed.
Hotels including Chanakya BNR, Capitol Hill, Jade Square and Park Prime among others have decided against any party. At the same time, Ranchi Club has also decided not to host any gathering in view of the increasing Covid-19 cases.
Aqua World has also decided to keep the gates closed for the public in view of the upsurge in the cases of Covid-19 from December 31 to January 2.
However, Gymkhana Club has curbed the number of guests from 800 to 200 in wake of the Covid-19 upsurge in the district.
Vishwakarma, Deputy General Manager of Ranchi Gymkhana Club said, “We have reduced the guest list and social distancing norms will be followed inside the premises in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19 infection.”
Nandalal Kumar, Manager of Park Prime said, “Covid-19 has been of grave concern as the virus is rapidly mutating. So, mass gathering and partying can lead to a surge in cases. Hence, we will not be organising any celebration.”
Capitol Hill is also not organising a party this time. Though one can book the banquet hall to organise their own party.
“We have not made any preparations for the new year bash as Covid-19 cases are rising. But if one wants to organise an event, they can do it at our banquet hall,” said Supriyo, the banquet manager.
On the other hand, Focus Club and Resort have also curbed the number of guests from 1000 to 200 only.
“Earlier, we had planned to call upon a total of 500 guests according to the norms of the government, but looking at the surge in covid-19 cases the club has decided to host only 200 guests for the Dec 31 evening,” said Mahesh, manager of the club.
