Ranchi, Dec.31: Over 3000 HEC workers are expected to beat dishes and clap sitting at their houses in the evening before they enter the New Year without getting a salary for the last seven months.

The programme has been organised by HEC Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, which has the support of former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay and Khijri MLA Rajesh Kacchap. The purpose of the programme is to draw the attention of authorities towards the problem of workers on strike for the last 29 days.

If the programme in the evening materializes it will be a message to both the union and state governments. It will expose their weakness as so far has none of the governments has come out with any plan to rescue the ‘mother of industries’ from crisis despite the matter of non-payment of wages for a long time being in their knowledge through various sources and both the government expressed their seriousness regarding the industries of Jharkhand at public platforms.

Sahay confirmed the programme and its outcome.

“One can easily imagine the intention of governments who so far failed to come out with any plan that can save the iconic industries in Jharkhand and keep the life of ordinary workers running. I become restless thinking how workers earning hardly Rs 10,000 to Rs 12000 in months by working in the plant would have managed eight months without salary,” Sahay said.

“The evening programme will definitely work as an eye-opener for the authorities who often claims big in the public taking industry but do nothing to save it,” ex-union minister Sahay, a follower of Jai Prakash Narayan groomed under the tutelage of stalwarts like Chandrashekhar, Satyendra Narain Singh and Thakur Prasad, said.
