New Delhi, Jan 6:  The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order on plea relating to Centre’s decision of providing 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% for EWS category in All-India Quota seats for the admission in NEET for all medical seats.

The Apex Court has asked the petitioners to file a short note of their reply by January 7, 2022 morning.

A special bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna heard the case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court consented to hear the case after the Centre made an urgent appeal to do so in light of resident doctors’ objections regarding the delay in the NEET PG counselling round.

Tushar Mehta, the Solicitor General of India, requested an urgent listing, which was granted by Chief Justice of India N V Ramana.

Notably, after a petition was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Centre’s decision to reconsider the criteria for determining the EWS quota in the All India Quota, NEET PG Counseling was postponed. Residents of various hospitals in Delhi and other areas of the country protested under the umbrella of the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) over a delay in the counselling session.
