Daltonganj, Jan 6: Junior residents, senior residents and tutors serving in Medinirai Medical College Hospital in Daltonganj have threatened the management to boycott work on and from January 15 if their salary is not paid to them which is due from 5 months.

These residents and tutors have given a letter to this effect to the principal of MMCH, Dr Shailendra Kumar.

There are 14 junior residents, 8 senior residents and 5 tutors who are unpaid over the last five months.

Principal Dr Shailendra Kumar has confirmed to have received the letter from the fleet of residents and tutors. He said that he has forwarded the letter to the Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Arun Kumar Singh.

According to Dr. Shailendra, this situation is due to a lack of funds at the college hospital. He has urged the ACS to send allotment to avert this boycott call as if it occurs, then it will impact the medical services at a time when Covid is raging all around.

Sources said there are five professors and six associate professors who are working on a contractual basis at MMCH. They too are unpaid over the last five months for the same reason.

According to college sources, an allotment worth Rs. 55,00,000 can tide over the situation building up in the wake of nonpayment of salary. It can last till March, the last month of the financial year 2021 -22.

Principal Dr Shailendra Kumar said he has exhorted the ACS for the allotment of funds for payment to these professors and associate professors as well.
