18 candidates in fray for six posts in Coal Officers Association poll at BCCL Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Jan 12: Direct contest is on the cards for the post of President in Coal Mines Officers Association (CMOA) Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) chapter election as only two candidates Arun Kumar Singh and Kishore Yadav have been left in the race.

After scrutiny of candidates, chief election officer of CMOA poll committee Bipin Bihari Roy said that total 18 candidates have been left in for six posts of central committee including president.

As per election schedule, polling would be held on January 21 and 1,432 coal officers of BCCL would exercise their franchise.

Chief election officer Roy said that in wake of  rising cases of Covid, ballot boxes have been kept in all 12 colliery areas of the coal company so that voter officers do not need to come to BCCL headquarter Koyla Bhawan for the same.

A senior officer posted in colliery area said that this election of CMOA keeps significant for the welfare of  coal officers as regular Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of BCCL Samiran Dutta has assumed office recently and would continue on the post till 2024.

“There is a need for strong leadership for the association to negotiate with CMD for the welfare of officers”, said the  senior officer.

Besides two candidates for post of president, there are four candidates left in the race for vice-president namley AK Jha, Ajit Singh Yadav, Pramod Kumar, Kundan Kumar.

For the post of general secretary, four candidates are also in the fray including Tushar Singh, N Chakravorty, PK Mishra and Upendra Singh.

For the post of Joint secretaries Dharmendra Tiwari, Satish Kumar Mishra, Surendra Bhushan and Sumit Kumar.

Akhilesh Singh and Alok Kumar Dokaniya are in the field for the post of  treasure  while Kundan Kumar Shashank Shekhar and Tushar Kant for assistant treasurer.
