Ranchi, Jan 12: The Jharkhand government has failed to manage the doubling rate of Covid-19 cases in the state, with cases doubling every 71 days, according to the health department.

The country’s doubling rate, on the other hand, is 221 days.

At the same time, the recovery rate is lower than the national average, with the state’s recovery rate at 91.15 percent as of January 11 compared to the national average of 96.30 percent.

According to Dr. Ajit Kumar of Sadar Hospital, the state’s low performance is due to a lack of public awareness, since many individuals are still refusing to get vaccinated.

“The recovery rate isn’t very high because patients are waiting for their negative test results, even though state guidelines specify that if a patient is symptom-free for seven days, they should be discharged mentioning recovered. People in the state are also not taking it seriously and refraining from wearing masks,” Kumar said.

“The district administration should rigorously follow the state covid standards, which will boost the state’s recovery rate because many state officials are hospitalised and waiting for their report to be negative so that they may continue to enjoy their holiday period,” he added.

“There are 15 police officers in Sadar Hospital awaiting a negative report despite the fact that they have been asymptomatic and have been in the hospital for the past seven days. If these cases are included in the recovered cases, the recovery rate will very certainly be higher than it is now,” Kumar added.

Dr. Pradeep Bhattacharya, the head of critical care at RIMS, claimed that the infection rate is higher because of the increased testing in the state, which is lower in other states.

“Although the data reveals that the recovery rate in the state is low, it has been seen that affected people recover in 3 to 5 days,” Bhattacharya added.
