Ranchi, Jan 12: District civil surgeon on Wednesday directed all private hospitals and nursing homes to mention expiry date of Covaxin on notice board to avoid any type of confusion among those getting vaccinated.
The direction was given as despite extension of shelf life of the said vaccine by one year by the Drug Controller General (India), it has not been mentioned in the vial and sometimes people get confused. Sometimes in the stage of confusion, reports questioning the efficiency of vaccines become viral in social media causing problems for district administration.
A few days ago the district administration faced an awkward situation due to the situation and had to issue a show cause notice to a journalist to ensure that proper precaution be taken before publishing such matter during pandemic time.
Prior to this, reports regarding the distribution of expired medicine from Sadar Hospital also hogged limelight creating fear among the Covid-19 patients receiving medicine kit for their recovery and district administration had to set up an inquiry to ensure that erring staffs should be identified and other dealing with medicine could be alerted.
