Raipur, Jan 14: A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel of 33 Battalion was injured on Friday when Naxals detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) near Kosronda camp of Chhattisgarh, informed Kanker Supridendent of police.

“There was an incident of brief firing for about 10 minutes after the IED blast at 12:55 pm near Patkalbeda village,” said SP, Shalabh Sinha.

The injured jawan was evacuated from the spot and admitted to Antagarh hospital.

The 33 Battalion of SSB was out there for railway line protection duty and was patrolling the forest area when Naxals set off the IED.

Notably, the SSB’s two battalions – 33rd and 28th – were deployed in Tadoki and Rowghat areas of the district since 2016 exclusively for guarding under-construction Dallirajhara (Balod district)-Rowghat (Kanker) railway project.
