Dumka, Jan 20: Police have recovered the dead bodies of a newly married couple from Jamkandar village under Shikaripara police station of the district last night who allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in a room.
The deceased couple have been identified as Safiul Sheikh and Prola Bibi hailing from Murshidabad police station of Bengal. They were staying in a rented house in Jamkandar village for the last four months since they had tied a nuptial knit.
Porola Bibi had reportedly informed her parents about the decision to commit suicide together with the husband who she had married after having love affair for quite some time.
“The parents of the deceased lady rushed to their home after listening to their otherwise intention to kill themselves. Then they found the duo hanging from the roof of a room,” the officer in-charge of the Shikaripara police station Nawal Kishore Singh said, adding that the dead bodies were sent to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital for postmortem on Thursday.
The deceased couple, according to the villagers, used to sell artificial jewelries in rural pockets to eke out living but were facing hardship.
