Ranchi, Jan.24: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been talking about 75 percent jobs for locals in the private sector whenever discussion starts on creating job opportunities in the state.

A section of industrialists doubts the intention of the chief minister and takes it as a hurdle before recruitment of skilled manpower for their companies and unwanted interference in their process of human resource procurement to make their company profitable in the competitive world.

They also take it as a way to extort money from the industrialists running their industries with skilled manpower from outside peacefully or compel them to award tender in favour of contractors of government’s choice without considering merit and experience.

But when contacted Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), a national organization of industrialists, it appeared they think otherwise and support the idea of the CM who so far has failed to fulfill the promise of giving suitable job to locals and has been receiving complaints from migrant labourers of the state taking jobs outside the state or country.

“This will go a long way in opening job opportunities within the state leading to economic growth and the individual and surely reduce migration.” Chanakya Chaudhary, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council & Vice President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel Limited said when approached for his comment.

The Vice chairman echoed the same. “The Bill for a 75% quota in the private sector is a very good and constructive step towards employment generation and better livelihood for all people. This will also stop good skilled persons shifting base to other states. This Bill will also generate opportunities for people to get skilled in specific areas of Industry requirement and in turn would create a large ecosystem of skilled manpower which will attract new industries to be set up in the state,” said Tapas Sahu, Vice Chairman and MD & CEO, Highco Engineers Pvt Ltd and vice chairman of CII.

With two top officers of CII being optimistic about taking a 75 percent quota in the private sector it seems that the state government will soon take a step forward and soon take some concrete steps to ensure jobs for locals in private sectors.

However, a resident of Jharkhand doubted the intention of the CM.

“The CM just talks. Once locals start running the industry, leaders with vested interests in the state will be jobless as whenever they make an attempt to extort money from industrialists, local workers will come to the rescue of their industrial units and managing them will not be easy for the government. However, let us hope for the best and get prepared for the worst,” the resident said.
