Ranchi, Jan.27:  JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya ruled out any possibility of any effect on the UPA government in the state due to shift of loyalty of AICC Jharkhand in-charge R.P.N.Singh, who on the eve of Republic Day resigned from Congress party and joined the BJP.

“It is a personal decision of R.P.N. Singh. It is not going to affect the alliance of the JMM with the Congress,” Bhattacharya when contacted this evening for his comment.

Congress state president Rajesh Thakur, who was appointed state president with the recommendation of Singh, has already supported the statement of Bhattacharya. He in order to minimize the incident of Singh’s resignation has come into action to prove his commitment to his party.

He met Rahul Gandhi yesterday in the presence of newly appointed Jharkhand in-charge Avinash Pandey and old Jharkhand state president Ajoy Kumar in New Delhi. Though Thakur could not be contacted for his comment, party workers close to him said that Gandhi expressed his full faith in the party’s ideology and shared a plan to strengthen it further in Jharkhand.

When top guns of the JMM and Congress saw no effect of Singh’s resignation in the stability of government in the state, a section of the Congress party workers believes that Singh’s resignation has a major impact on the party.

“Congress party workers are invited at the state headquarters only to observe death and birth anniversaries of leaders. They are hardly involved in any serious decision taking about the future and ideology of the party. There is an atmosphere of mistrust among the workers at the party. This was reflected when Singh resigned.   If proper steps are not taken on time, more Congress party supporters could shift their loyalty. This is not the time when such a situation has come early on many occasions. A major difference of opinion among party workers got exposed,” an insider said.
