Daltonganj, Feb 1: Pups of wolves have been sighted in the Mahuadanr wolf sanctuary.

Chief conservator of forest and field director of the Palamu Tiger Reserve Kumar Ashutosh said it is good that pups of wolves have added to the population of the wolves in the sanctuary.

According to Ashutosh, the increase in the population of wolves points towards peace, safety and less human intervention in and around the dens of the Mahuadanr wolf sanctuary. He added that tourists love sighting and watching the wolves in the fields.

Mukesh Kumar, the deputy director South division of PTR said that proper habitat and availability of food help in the increase of population of wolves.

Brinda Pandey, ranger of the Mahuadanr range said: “Our trackers have installed trapping cameras at strategic dens. There are 10 camera traps in the wolf sanctuary. These pups would be independently arranging their own food within a month or two.

“We have to disengage some camera traps from here for the census of the tiger,” said field director Ashutosh.
