After being denied a ticket by the Congress, Kang threatened to run as an Independent from Kharar a few days ago.
On Thursday, he claimed that if the party did not reconsider its decision to provide the Kharar ticket to liquor contractor and Mohali District Planning Committee chairman Vikay Sharma Tinku, his son Yadvinder Singh Kang would run as an Independent.
Kang slammed CM Charanjit Singh Channi for denying a ticket to his family, alleging that the CM’s favouritism for Tinku was due to their shared economic interests. Other members of the central election committee, Kang claimed, were in his favour except for Channi and Punjab affairs incharge Harish Chaudhary.
Kang said he had also written to Sonia Gandhi, the party’s president, in this regard.
