New Delhi, Feb 1: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget, said on Tuesday that a national tele-mental health program will be launched for mental health counselling. Tech support for the programme will be provided by IIT Bangalore.
“The pandemic has accentuated mental health problems in people of all ages. To better the access to quality mental health counseling and care services, a National Tele Mental Health program will be launched,” said FM Nirmala Sitharaman.
“This will include a network of 23 tele mental health centres of excellence with Nimhans being the nodal centre and IIIT Bangalore providing technology support,” she added.
Notably, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting her fourth budget, with the goal of keeping India’s status as the world’s fastest-growing economy.
