Dumka, Feb 8: 35 passengers travelling in a bus were injured when the vehicle met with an accident near Jamua under the Jarmundi police station of the district last night.

All the passengers were returning to their native village Asthma in Nawada district of Bihar after paying offerings at Basukinath temple when the reserved bus carrying them met with the incident at around 10 p.m.

Local people and social activists took the injured persons to the Jarmundi based government health centre where doctors attending them referred nine of them to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital owing to the severity of their injuries.

Eyewitnesses’ account said the driver of the bus lost his control over the vehicle which overturned as he applied a hard brake while approaching a dilapidated stretch along Basukinath- Deoghar road which continues to risk the lives of common commuters.
