Ahmedabad, Feb 9:  India and West Indies are set to face each other in the 2nd ODI of the ongoing series on Wednesday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India won the first one-day international against the West Indies and now leads the series 1-0. Rohit Sharma, India’s new one-day international captain, is in charge. The captain of the West Indies is Kieron Pollard.

In the first ODI between India and the West Indies, India won the toss and elected to bowl first. India presented a significant challenge to the visitors by crushing the batting from the start. India’s spin attack, led by Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal, held the West Indies to 79-7 in 23 overs.

In the first ODI between India and the West Indies at the legendary Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, batting legend Kohli became the fastest batter to reach 5,000 ODI runs (at home).

Meanwhile, former India captain Kohli will have a chance to make history on Wednesday when India plays the Kieron Pollard-led team in the series decider at the same stadium. Kohli, who has played 258 ODIs for the two-time world champions, is regarded as one of the finest batsmen in the game’s history across all formats. Kohli will complete a historic century in the 50-over format at home with his 259th ODI appearance for Team India.

On Wednesday, Kohli will play his 100th One-Day International (ODI) at home. Kohli will become the 36th batsman to play 100 ODIs on home soil when he makes his 100th appearance in the 50-over format. Kohli will thus join cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Mohammed Azharuddin, and Yuvraj Singh in an exclusive club. Kohli will join Tendulkar (164 matches), Dhoni (127), Azharuddin (113), and Yuvraj Singh as the seventh Indian to play 100 ODIs at home (108 matches).

Talking about the pitch, the surface at Narendra Modi Stadium is sluggish, making it tough to score runs. The spinners are expected to receive a lot of help. In ODIs, the average first-inning total at the venue is 239, while the average second-inning total is 210.

India vs West Indies Probable XIs :

India: Rohit Sharma(C), Ishan Kishan/KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda, Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
