Daltonganj, Feb 9: Preparations are afoot for the Adivasi Maha Kumbh Mela at Dubiyakhad on NH 75. The two-day tribal fair begins on February 11 every year.

Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Mithilesh Thakur is expected to be the chief guest of this tribal fair. Manika Congress MLA Ramchandar Singh is certain to be there.

On this occasion, the statue of the renowned tribal King Medinirai is cleansed and lavishly garlanded.

According to sources, the tribal fair has enormous political ramifications, with each political party vying for a larger slice of the pie.

DC Shashi Ranjan stated that it will be a small-scale event, unlike the Maha Kumbh, which has been associated with this tribal festival. A health camp will be set up, complete with immunization and testing facilities.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Anil Kumar said, “We are gearing up our teams for the fair duty.”

Sources said some recreation operators are fixing roundabouts and other festive bonanzas.

DC Ranjan made it clear that all activities will be in adherence to the protocol of Covid management. He urged people to enjoy but not at the cost of health.

He said it is quite heartening that eligibles living in and around the fair area are well vaccinated. A large number of them are vaccinated with the first dose and a sizable number of them have their second dose of the vaccination.

The tribal fair is always anticipated for a year. The most popular foods here are fish and chicken. Cooked pork is also available during the fair.

Because of the Malay dam, the tribal fair’s location is rich in fish, and roasted fish is available for take-home delivery.

SDO Sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah said that he has directed the Incident Commander to ensure that Covid protocol is not given a toss during the fair. Traffic on NH 75 has to be kept smooth and jam-free, said the police.
