Kolkata, Feb 10: West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has once again attacked Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress government, claiming that there is no rule of law, only law of ruler in the state.

He took a dig at the state government, urging “state intellectuals and diaspora to ponder on the state’s serious condition.”

Notably Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and the state Governor have been at odds for a long time. On various occasions, the Chief Minister has claimed that the Governor makes statements with political motivations and interferes with state government activity. On the other hand, Governor Dhankhar has accused the state government of mismanaging the peace and order situation.

“Appeal Bengal Intelligentsia, Diaspora and Media to reflect on present alarmingly worrisome state of affairs and scenario indicated by Human Rights Commission that in WB there is (a) law of ruler, not rule of law and contribute towards securing governance as per constitutional norms and law,” he tweeted.

“Silence of sane voices at this juncture will deal a staggering blow to already tottering democratic values and human rights in the state. Time to ensure rich culture of state blossoms generating scenario where there is full exploitation of potential for public welfare, he added.

He also tweeted a Bhagavad Gita’shloka,’ which says that a person should do Karma and not focus on results, i.e. that a person only has the right to do karma and not the benefits of their karma.

“Do not become a person who constantly meditates upon (gets attached to) the results of one’s karma. Do not get attached to inactivity (no karma),” he added.

Mr Dhankhar’s posts came after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blocked him on Twitter a few days earlier, accusing him of making unethical and unlawful statements about the state administration.
