New Delhi, Feb 11:  While commenting on the ongoing Hijab row, assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said, Congress has entered politics of polarisation and it seems like Jinnah’s soul has entered into the party.

“They (Congress) say it’s right to open madrasas, opening Muslim universities is right, they also say it’s right to wear hijab,” he said.

“Sometimes they (Congress) say that India isn’t a nation but union of states. Hearing all this makes one feel if Jinnah’s soul has entered into Congress,” he added.

Further criticising the Congress Party, the Assam CM stated that the Hijab issue is created by the Congress Party because it politicises Islam for its own gain. “It’s only fair that their polarising politics come to a stop. I believe it will come to a close after the elections in the five states “he stated.

He went on to say that how would a teacher know whether a student is learning or not, if they’re wearing a hijab.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has turned down an urgent hearing on a petition challenging the Karnataka High Court’s interim order. The Supreme Court said it is keeping an eye on what is going on in Karnataka and in the High Court hearing. The Supreme Court also requested that lawyers refrain from making it a national issue, stating that it will intervene at a suitable time.
