Dharamshala, Feb 27: After being released from the hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan was placed under the care of the BCCI medical staff. Ishan is unlikely to participate in Sunday’s third T20I against Sri Lanka in Dharamshala.
Ishan Kishan, the most expensive player in the IPL 2022 mega auction, suffered a head injury in the second T20I against Sri Lanka and was transported to a hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. When Kishan was hit by Lahiru Kumara’s crisp bouncer in the fourth over of India’s innings, the incident occurred.
Even as the Sri Lankan fielders gathered around him, Kishan removed his helmet due to the intensity of the pitch. Ishan was transferred to a regular ward as a precautionary measure and a CT scan was done immediately when he was admitted.
In the absence of Ishan Kishan, India may rely on Sanju Samson to protect the wicket and Mayank Agarwal to begin the batting. After Ruturaj Gaikwad was forced out of the series due to a wrist injury, Agarwal joined the Indian team. Agarwal, along with the rest of India’s Test squad, had been quarantined in Chandigarh ahead of their match against Sri Lanka on March 4.
