Woman falls victim of chain snatching at Sakchi in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 1: Chain snatchers’ gang again became active in the steel city.

 

In a broad daylight incident two bike-borne youths snatched a gold chain from a middle aged woman at Chenab Road in Sakchi.

 

The woman identified as Nagratnam was going to offer Shivaratri Puja at a local temple when she was intercepted by two bike-borne youths who came to her asking for an address. No sooner they snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled.

 

The victim later raised an alarm. Getting the information Sakchi police soon reached the spot.

 

An FIR was lodged in this regard on the basis of the statement given by the victim to police. The gold chain was worth Rs 90,000.

 

Police started an intensive search operation in the area and also began scanning of CCTV footages to get hold of the culprits.

 

The incidents of snatching and other crime is on the rise in Steel City for the last couple of weeks.

 

Police have failed to get breakthrough in any of the crime incidents including the Rs 32 lakh loot in Bistupur and loot of gold worth Rs 10 lakh from Sakchi last month.

 

Over half-a-dozen incidents of chain snatching took place in various parts of the steel city in February. Most cases remained unsolved.

 

Even though police is focussing on anti-crime checking for the last five days but to no avail.
