New Delhi, March 8: India and China will hold the 15th round of military talks to de-escalate tensions in Ladakh on March 11, with the dialogue expected to focus on resolving outstanding issues at the remaining friction points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The most recent session of Corps Commander-level negotiations took place on January 12, but no progress was made, despite both countries pledging to work toward mutually acceptable solutions to end the border deadlock, which began in May 2020.

According to authorities who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the March 11 talk will take place on the Indian side of the Chushul-Moldo meeting point. Despite three rounds of disengagement at LAC friction areas — Galwan, Pangong Tso, and Gogra Heights — the two armies still have 50,000 to 60,000 troops deployed in the Ladakh theatre, along with modern equipment.

“Both sides will now focus on achieving resolution on the remaining friction areas. Recent statements by both sides to find a mutually acceptable solution have been encouraging and positive in nature,” said the officials.

The latest round of discussions is anticipated to focus on reaching an agreement on the disengagement of rival frontline soldiers from Hot Springs or Patrol Point-15, one of LAC’s thorny spots.
