Ranchi, March 15: The BJP on Tuesday criticized the Hemant Soren government for police action on Poshan Shakhi workers of Anganwadi who have been agitating for their demands.
On Monday, police resorted to lathi-charge after they allegedly tried to prevent the cavalcade of Chief Minister Hemant Soren who was on his way to attend the budget session of the assembly. They wanted to draw the attention of the chief minister. As many as seven Poshan Shakhis were injured and 50 of them were arrested and sent to jail. The demonstration was organized by Jharkhand Rajya Ekikrita Poshan Shakhi Sangh.
The matter was raised as the budget session started by BJP’s Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan and he was was supported by his party colleague Neera Yadav.
Criticizing the incident Biranchi Narayan said that instead of resolving their issues, the government ordered police action. Neera Yadav demanded the government to release arrested Poshan Shakhi workers.
Soni Paswan, state president of the outfit said that they have been facing problems due to irregular payment of honorarium which is very low considering services they offer. She further said that they wanted the government to regularize their service rule. She also said that the government wanted to remove them from the contract.
