Mumbai, March 24: MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings’ skipper since 2008, has stepped down ahead of Saturday’s opening match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
MS Dhoni has decided to pass over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings to Ravindra Jadeja, who has been a key member of the squad since 2012. Jadeja will be only the third player to captain CSK. Dhoni will remain a part of the Chennai Super Kings for the rest of the season and beyond.

Notably, with four IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021, Dhoni is the second most successful captain in IPL history.
Dhoni also has the league’s second-best win percentage (59.6), with 121 wins and 82 losses. Dhoni was also the most successful captain in the now-defunct Champions League T20, with 14 victories and a 63.04 winning percentage.
