Ranchi Municipal Corporation to spend Rs 2,707 crore for capital development next fiscal

Ranchi, March 25: Ranchi Municipal Corporation, under the chairmanship of Mayor Asha Lakra, has passed the budget of Rs 2,707 crore for the financial year 2022-23. In the meeting, the members of the Standing Committee passed the budget after discussion. In the financial year 2021-22, a budget of Rs. 2,555 crore was passed. In comparison, an increase of Rs 152 crore has been made in this financial year.

 

In the financial year 2022-23, RMC has estimated an income of Rs 266.66 crore from its sources. Similarly, a provision of Rs 201.66 crore has been made against the estimated income.

 

RMC has collected Rs. 104.14 crore from tax, Rs. 94.91 crore under rent/fee and utility tax from the property of the corporation, Rs. 2.98 crore from sale and rent, Rs. 49.20 crore from revenue grant and contribution, Rs. 4.96 crore from interest under bank and investment, under the registration fee Rs. 6.06 crore and other items.

 

“We have passed a budget of Rs. 2,707 crores after meeting the Standing Committee. We will use this budget for the development of the city. We have passed a total budget of Rs 2,707 crores for all the basic works that will be carried out by Ranchi Municipal Corporation,” Mayor Asha Lakra said.

 

The income has been estimated at Rs 4.41 crore. In this budget, budgetary provisions have also been made for health services, education and emergency fire services. A budgetary provision of Rs 12 crore has been made on emergency fire services, Rs 30 crore on health services and Rs 10 crore on education services. A provision of Rs 2.50 crore has been made for purchasing fogging machines whereas Rs 26.68 crore worth provision has been made for the vending zone.

 

Under the provisions of section 105 (3) of the Act-2011 and the Accounts Manual, the corporation spends 25 percent of the estimated income from its sources for the urban poor. On this basis, a provision of Rs 53.26 crore has been made under Urban Poor Fund. A provision of Rs 79.10 crore has been made on drain construction, Rs 149.67 crore on road construction and Rs 105 crore under 15th Finance Commission. A provision of Rs 26.68 crore has been made for vending zones in the financial year 2022-23.

 

A provision of Rs. 60 crores has been made for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana whereas Rs 13.20 crore under NULM (National Urban Livelihood Mission) for individual loans, group loans, skill development/training programs and creation of community infrastructure to mobilise the urban poor.

 

Apart from this, RMC has set a target of receiving Rs 200 crore from bonds to increase its income. In the budget, Ranchi Water Supply, Swachh Bharat Mission, Sewerage and Drainage, City Bus, purchase of suction machine for cleaning the drain, Amrit Yojana, Disaster Management, Ward Office, Footpath, Urinal, Traffic System Maintenance, Deep Boring, E-rickshaw Budgetary provisions have also been included. Apart from this, provision has been made for sewerage as well as storm water drain (rain water).
