Basel, March 27: Kidambi Srikanth, an Indian shuttler, was eliminated from the ongoing Swiss Open 2022 on Saturday after losing in the men’s singles semi-finals at St. Jakobshalle.
In a 55-minute semi-final match, Srikanth was defeated by Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie 21-18, 7-21, 13-21. Despite losing the first game, the Indonesian shuttler made a huge comeback and crushed Srikanth in the second and third games. Christie will now face Prannnoy HS of India, who defeated Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the semi-finals 21-19, 19-21, 21-18.
Apart from Prannoy, India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu qualified for the finals by defeating Thailand’s Supanida Katethong 21-18, 15-21, 21-19.
Sindhu will now play Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand in the women’s singles final on Sunday.
