Ranchi, Mar 31: The telemedicine consultation service started by the Jharkhand government in 2014 has served 55 lakh, people of the state, in the past eight years through the ‘104’ toll-free number.

If a person’s health worsens and he/she is not in a position to go to the hospital, then one can consult a doctor by dialing the toll-free number ‘104’ for immediate medical consultation.

The telemedicine consultation service operated by the Jharkhand government was started in 2014 by then Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Health Minister Rajendra Singh.

This service is proving to be a boon for the people of the state. The telemedicine service operated by Piramal Health has a team of 8 doctors. These doctors work in three shifts to provide counselling to the patients.

On dialing 104, the doctors and paramedical personnel sitting in the Health Information Center provide medical information. This facility is available to the people of the state 24 hours a day. Here, patients are also provided with information related to illness, information on medicines and about the nearest health centre.

Dr Sudhir Pandey, Domain Head of 104 Telemedicine Service said that during the Corona period most people called to get information related to Covid-19, its symptoms and medicine.

“At that time, OPD services in hospitals were completely disrupted. At the same time, people also called for the diagnosis of post-Covid problems. Usually, people call for information related to the disease. Our sole aim is to clear the questions and doubts asked by the people. Our first priority is to treat them by giving them medical advice,” Dr Sudhir said.
