DAV Sindri makes memorial in name of Covid-19 victim teacher

Dhanbad, April 7: DAV Public School Rangamati, Sindri has made a memorial in the name of its teacher Jeevan Kishore Srivastava who died from Covid- 19.

Jeevan Kishore Srivastava was the music teacher cum in-charge of DAV Public School Sindri junior wing. The school management has kept the name of the junior wing building as ‘Jeevan Block’ in respect of him. He was the founder in-charge of this wing and attended the institution till the last day before being infected from the infection in 2020.

“This is first of its kind memorial in any school of the Jharkhand including private and government where a teacher has been given such respect by an institution and a memorial has been built in his honour who died from Covid-19,” observed Amit Kumar, block development officer (BDO) of Baliapur who inaugurated the Jeevan Memorial Block along with his wife Ritu Kumari in the afternoon on Thursday.

Amit Kumar highly appreciated the sentiment of over 6,000 students of the school, principal, teachers and staff who decided to pay respect to a teacher and made a permanent memorial to preserve his memory forever.

Principal Ashutosh Kumar, on the occasion, while recalling the departed teacher said that he was soft-spoken, dedicated, punctual to his class and a devoted teacher. He looked ever ready to fight the challenges of whatever appeared before him.

“He was the most popular among students of the school and always helped the pupil whoever came to him for any kind of assistance.  Keeping his devotion and dedication in mind it was unanimously decided to make a block of school after him,” said Ashutosh Kumar, the principal of the school.

Besides teachers, students, Simple Srivastava (the wife of the departed teacher), and dignitaries of Sindri were present in large numbers on the occasion.
