Daltonganj, April 7: Palamu police on Thursday took out a flag march in the town in the evening.
DC Shashi Ranjan and SP Chandan Kumar Sinha stood and went around in a cream white car. The idea of bringing in a white cream car was thought to be a symbol of calm and quiet, according to sources.
This is the first time in the last ten years that the DC and the SP have moved into the street for large-scale events like festivals. Assistant superintendent of police K Vijay Shankar was also out with his boys.
Both urban and semi-urban areas were covered by the flag march. It was also attended by female officers and officials.
Hundreds of cops and government officials marched down the street. The route was the same as the one that the Ram Navami procession would take. The flag march lasted almost two hours.
According to sources, the civil and police administrations were attempting to send a message that the festival should be celebrated in goodness and that any deviation or misadventure would result in severe punishment.
The SP said, “We are ready to move 4 steps ahead of the festival organisers but if someone tries to violate the guidelines then such a person will be punished.”
According to sources, the SP’s lexicon has toughened as the festival has progressed. He only appealed for the first two days. He then went on to add that lawbreakers will be dealt with harshly by the police.
According to sources, the horrific incident in the Khunti district has deprived the administration of its tranquillity. It is not a case of taking chances.
According to sources, a teen was held and questioned for writing unjustified comments that appeared to be the result of his pent-up emotions rather than any action. He was being interrogated by police officers.
SDO Sadar Rajesh Kumar Sah stated he met with both sides of the two communities, the Ram Navami people and the chairman of the Muharram Inteezamiya committee, and they came to an amicable agreement that the procession’s Kunjra Patti crossing would be trouble-free for both sides.
About the flag march, the SDO Sadar said that in one peace meet, he had suggested the assistant superintendent of police K Vijay Shankar to have it before the main day of the festival.
