Deoghar, April 12: Four people remain stranded in one carriage mid-air more than 40 hours after a cable car collision in  Deoghar, while about 43 people were evacuated in a dangerous operation involving two Air Force helicopters and hundreds of authorities.

Officials reported that drones are being used to deliver water and food to the besieged people.

Yesterday, a person fell from a helicopter while being rescued, bringing the total number of people killed in the disaster to three. The man was seen clinging to a rope suspended from the chopper for several moments before suddenly losing his grip and falling, sending bystanders into a frenzy.

Because the ropeway travels through a scenic but densely forested area surrounded by hills, access is difficult unless by air, rescue activities had to be halted after nightfall last evening.
