RU Syndicate approves changes in syllabi by Board of Study

Ranchi, April 13: The Ranchi University syndicate on Wednesday approved the varsity statute committee’s proposals after discussion.

As per a notification released by the university, the name of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication will be changed to School of Mass Communication. Furthermore, changes are to be brought in the syllabus of the three-year UG in BA course for Journalism and Mass Communication and the two-year MA course in Film Studies and Production Programme.

Furthermore, a one year PG Diploma course in Film Studies and Production Programme was approved to begin in the meeting.

The name of the department of Archaeology and Museology will also be changed to School of Archaeology and Museology. Along with this, the syllabus approved by the Board of Study will be implemented in the department. The Board will also be allowed to make changes in some other syllabi of other departments.

The syndicate has also approved plagiarism checks for research papers as per the guidelines by the UGC and Gazette of India.

In case of beginning courses of Sanskrit, Anthropology and Sociology, the syndicate has directed that posts be formed before approval of the decision to begin the courses.

Along with this, the syndicate instructed officials to present a detailed proposal in the next meeting for the three six month certificate courses under Geology.

DSW Dr R K Sharma, Dr T N Sahu, Dr K C Prasad, Dr Hiranand, Dr Dinesh Kumar, Dr Hari Oraon, Dr B P Verma, Dr Manoj Kumar, Dr Vinayak Lal, Dr Pritam Kumar among others were present at the meeting.
