Dhanbad, April 20: A case has been filed against the Congress state working president Jaleshwar Mahto under the SC/ ST Act in Dhanbad court.

Loyabad resident Sanjay Kumar Ravidas has filed the case against the Congress leader and 29 others in the SC/ST court of Sujit Kumar Singh. Sanjay alleged that the accused insulted him in the name of his caste and when he protested, he was abused with filthy words and was also beaten up.

Lalan Kishore Prasad, the lawyer of Sanjay Kumar Ravidas, said that his client moved to the court after the police absolved the accused without conducting an investigation of the allegation and taking the statement of Ravidas and witnesses.

The court also recorded the statement of the complainant through his lawyer.

As per the charge sheet filed in the court, the incident occurred on September 26, 2021. Sanjay Kumar Ravidas is considered the supporter of Dhullu Mahto (BJP  Baghmara  MLA), who is the archrival of  Jaleshwar Mahto. Notably, Dhullu Mahto had defeated Jaleshwar Mahto in the 2019 assembly election by a few hundred votes.

On the day of the incident (September 26), Jaleshwar Mahto and his supporters allegedly insulted Sanjay Kumar Ravidas near Loyabad hospital in the name of his caste and beat him up after abusing him.

Sanjay Ravidas lodged FIR in Loyabad police station against Jaleshwar Mahto and 29 others in this connection the same day.

The Loyabad police on January 27, 2022, filed the closure report in court declaring the incident to be false.

Lagatar24.com correspondent tried contacting former minister and Congress state working president Jaleshwar Mahto, but he was not available for comment.
