Ranchi, April 26: Khijri MLA Rajesh Kachhap on Tuesday said that Union Minister Arjun Munda and MP Samir Oraon are fooling the people of tribal society.

A press conference was held after the controversial statement from Union Minister Arjun Munda where he had criticised the construction of the five-storied building at the Sarna Sthal in Siramtoli, Ranchi.

Kachhap said that tribals have their own civilisation and culture. There is no caste system among them and they live as per the rules of the tribal community.

“In our society, no work is done by the Panchang but it is done according to the moon. The statement given by Union Minister Arjun Munda and Rajya Sabha MP Samir Oraon against Sarna Sthal are completely wrong. During the tenure of Raghubar Das, a concrete tree was made at the Kanke Sarna site, where was Arjun Munda at that time?” he said.

He added that Arjun Munda works at the behest of the Sangh and the Sangh does not want the tribals’ religion and culture to develop.

The MLA said that Samir Oraon’s real personality will be revealed after the elections are concluded.

He added that Samir Oraon would probably lose the elections from Hatia, Ranchi, Jharia, Dhanbad and Bokaro as the tribals from these areas would not vote for him.

Notably, Arjun Munda had supported his criticism by saying that it is not a part of the tribal culture to stay in buildings but with nature.

“It is unfortunate that the state government is trying to promote tribal culture by constructing a building at the place of tribal worship. Whereas the true analogy of tribal culture is through the concept of living with harmony in nature,” he said.

“If the state government wants to construct a Sarna Bhavan, they can choose other prominent places in the city. I request that Sarna sthal should be left as a place of worship. In addition, a Tribal Museum cum Center for Tribal Art and Culture can also be set up,” he added.
