Dhanbad, May 25: Aditi Raj of Ranchi and Saara Jain of Jamshedpur excelled in National School Championship 2022 which was concluded at KIIT Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Tuesday evening.
Aditi Raj participating in the under-15 event gained six points and got 5th position in the country while Saara Jain got 6th position in the under-13 event with six points. Both the players narrowly missed the medal.
However, the International Arbiter of Jamshedpur Jayant Bhuyan, who is officiating in the championship at KIIT Bhubaneswar, said that both the players of Jharkhand came among the 10 top players of the country and were awarded the prizes for their outstanding performance in the championship.
Saara Jain has continued her winning streak at the national level. Earlier in April Saara Jain had made her mark with outstanding performance in the National under- 12 championships held in the Manda district of Karnataka.
A total of 31 boys and girls of Jharkhand (22 from Jamshedpur and 9 from Ranchi and other districts of the state) had participated in the competition. Among them, these two girls stole the show through her consistent performance. Both of them are state champions of their respective events.
Besides players, five officials (national and international arbiters) of Jharkhand were also assigned the responsibility for conducting the National School Chess Championship at KIIT Bhubaneswar. They are International Arbiter Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, FIDE Arbiter Chandan Kumar Prasad (both Jamshedpur), Senior National Arbiter Vikram Kumar Jha (Saraikela), Sucheta Chakraborty and Himanshu Chakraborty (both Ranchi).
All Jharkhand Chess Association general secretary Neeraj Mishra, Jayant Bhuyan East Singhbhum District Chess Association secretary NK Tiwari, Prabhat Ranjan Kumar, for state body treasurer Arvind Kumar Sinha congratulated Aditi Raj and Saara Jain for their outstanding performance in a national school chess championship.
