New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was deliberately detained for three hours at Delhi airport on returning from Paris and was also issued a challan of Rs 50,000.
Airport Officials Cited “Heavy Pressure from Above”
The allegation was made by AAP Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu, who said that when asked why the challan was issued, airport officials cited heavy pressure from above.
Trip Made on High Court Order, Says AAP
Pannu said Mann travelled to Paris, France, on the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to launch Punjab products such as its well-known rajma and white chickpeas at the world’s second-largest food festival. He alleged that the Centre had earlier not granted approval for the Chief Minister’s trip.
Centre Accused of Indifference
Pannu further alleged that the Centre’s indifference was such that not even the Consul General came to meet the Chief Minister. He claimed the government denied Mann permission for the foreign visit because the BJP fears he would bring investment from abroad and take Punjab towards progress.
