Jamshedpur, April 6: A junior engineer posted at Bodam block in Patamda was caught while taking a bribe from a member of the Women Self-help Group (WSHG) on Thursday.
A team of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials from Jamshedpur arrested the junior engineer, Sujeet Kumar Rana and brought him to the ACB’s divisional office at Sonari.
According to sources, Rana had demanded Rs 15,000 from the WSHG for passing a bill for a bathing platform that the group had constructed at a pond in Madhabpur panchayat under the Bodam block.
As the WSHG was reluctant to pay the bribe, some members of the group had lodged a complaint with the ACB, leading the latter to give the aggrieved WSHG member to go ahead with the move of paying the bribe to the junior engineer so that they may nab him red-handed. Eventually, the junior engineer was caught at his office chamber while taking Rs 15,000 as a bribe by the raiding team.
