Daltonganj, Sept 30: The Anti Corruption Bureau, Palamu sleuths today caught civil surgeon Dr John F Kennedy red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from Golden Kumar, the complainant of the case of corruption against Dr Kennedy.
The civil surgeon has been booked under section 7 (a) PC (Amendment) Act 2018. He was arrested from his Daltonganj residence today.
The complainant Golden Kumar had alleged that the civil surgeon was pressing for a bribe worth Rs 1,00,000 for clearing his bill worth only Rs 1,47,400 and today he took half of it only to be caught by the sleuths of the ACB.
Golden Kumar comes from Aurangabad Bihar and has his health firm called Russion Health Care Pvt Ltd which had entered into an agreement with the Palamu Zila Swasthya Samiti under Jharkhand clinical outreach team for carrying out family planning operations in the government hospitals allotted to him and this unpaid bill was of the family planning operations carried out for which the civil surgeon was asking for a bribe.
Golden Kumar has raised an accusing finger at the district programme manager Deepak Kumar Gupta who as he had alleged, was parroting Kennedy’s demand for a bribe.
The ACB Palamu wrote in its press note that it found the complaint true and also that the complainant Golden Kumar was not willing to pay the bribe and so on September 29, 2022, the ACB Palamu registered a case against Dr Kennedy under prevention of crime act and arrested him today.
Neelu Mishra, the wife of Dr Kennedy, said there is a well-planned conspiracy and her husband has been entrapped by people hostile to him and who wanted Dr Kennedy to be dislodged from the post of the Palamu civil surgeon.
